The foundation's purpose is: (a) to promote science and research by supporting scientific work and projects, primarily in the field of engineering sciences. To this end, the foundation may, among other things, award scholarships, grant prizes, and establish professorships. (b) to support young people and adults in recognized training and/or further education, for the preparation of a future-oriented further education, as well as for courses and further training (re-entry into professional life). Applicants are to receive financial support for training and/or living costs, provided that no other financial means are available. (c) to promote international understanding between Switzerland and its neighboring countries in the Lake Constance region through its own projects and the support of non-profit initiatives and organizations that promote this purpose. The foundation has a non-profit character. It does not pursue any commercial purpose and performs its services in the public interest. The foundation's work is primarily focused on Eastern Switzerland.
