E2S Power AG

E2S Power AG is a joint venture between SS&A Power Development and the WIKA Group that develops thermal energy storage systems for retrofitting and repurposing existing coal-fired power plants. Its technology converts surplus electrical energy into heat using novel storage materials and returns the stored energy as superheated steam to operate existing steam turbines and generators; charging is based on direct resistive heating using AC current, which minimizes additional electrical equipment and enables rapid charging (under one hour) and near‑100% conversion of electricity to heat.
