The Association is apolitical, non-denominational and operates mainly in the Alpine, Himalayan and Tibetan cultural areas, its purposes are: 1. To know the mountain areas in their environmental and human problems, especially in the parallels that unite the Alpine and Himalayan regions. In both, in fact, the environment is marked by a centuries-old relationship with human communities (unlike the model of American national parks). 2. To promote cooperation initiatives between the inhabitants of the Alps and the Himalayas in order to help each other overcome similar problems. 3. To promote initiatives aimed at preventing in the Himalayas those phenomena that have already affected the Alps in the past. In particular, recalling that the best defenders of the environment are those who have always lived there, we will try to help local populations conserve their cultural identity, improve living conditions and slow down an already started process of depopulation of mountain areas. We therefore work for: a) To know local cultures and help them not to succumb by re-proposing them to young people as vital elements in order to increase the cohesive force of traditions as an alternative to the calls of consumerism. b) By relying on local structures, rebuild places of worship that have fallen into disuse or been destroyed for multiple reasons, so that they can once again become a religious and social hub for the inhabitants of a given region. c) To carry out works to improve the living conditions of mountain inhabitants (e.g. schools, aqueducts) in respect of the environment, as well as to help individual human cases of which we become aware during research and humanitarian campaigns in these regions. 4. To promote studies, research, publications, events, conferences, exhibitions, meetings that have these regions as their theme and reference and contribute to mutual knowledge and solidarity. 5. To make the Himalayan regions known, especially in schools, in order to raise awareness among young people about some problems of the Third World and stimulate the spirit of solidarity.
