The ENSEMBLE CARTUSIA association is a music ensemble with a variable line-up, ranging from solo musicians to chamber orchestras. The association is free to choose its musicians. The focus of the association is on works that were performed at Arnold Schoenberg's Society for Private Musical Performances. This society, which existed for only a few years (1918-21), was dedicated to both original chamber music literature and chamber music arrangements of large-scale orchestral works, arranged by Arnold Schoenberg himself and his contemporaries for a chamber ensemble. The association can also perform other works from the entire history of music. Another focus of the association is on contemporary music creation. In close collaboration with contemporary composers, existing works are performed, which only through second and third performances receive a reception history. This aims to provide composers with a platform for repetition, rediscovery, and dialogue, in addition to the prevailing premiere business. The association can organize events, concerts, and international tours. The association can commission compositions. The association can be active in music mediation. In several working phases per year, the musicians of ENSEMBLE CARTUSIA develop new concert programs, develop projects, and record sound recordings (including online media). ENSEMBLE CARTUSIA is under the artistic direction of Swiss composer and conductor David Philip Hefti.
