The purpose of the EUCA is to promote science, technology, and the application of control engineering. The EUCA also deals with the impacts of control engineering on society. The main purpose of the association is to support all persons engaged in the theory and application of automatic control and system development, wherever they are active. For this purpose, it maintains working relationships with other national and international organizations, particularly with non-governmental professional associations. The EUCA provides a framework that enables collaboration among all those active in control engineering and system development, regardless of origin, belief, or skin color, and promotes the free exchange of ideas and experts within the field. The EUCA does not engage in political activities and does not represent any particular political views. The EUCA does not engage in economic activities that are explicitly aimed at financial gain. The goal of the EUCA is to promote the science and technology of automatic control and systems engineering in cooperation with other national and international organizations, through: (1) Organization and sponsorship of technical meetings such as congresses, conferences, symposia, and workshops. The flagship event of the EUCA is the European Control Conference, which will take place annually. (2) Administration and support of technical publications, primarily the European Journal of Control. (3) Recognition of outstanding achievements in control and systems engineering through awards. (4) Utilization of other means consistent with these statutes. With the approval of the general assembly, the EUCA may join international organizations that pursue the same or partially the same purposes in whole or in part.
