The Foundation's purpose is to support and finance applied medical research projects at the level of Valais hospital medicine and clinical activities of general interest that are not reimbursable by institutions or social insurance in the fields of immunology, hematology, genetics, and nutritional disorders (diabetes, obesity). For example, postgraduate training for doctors/nurses specializing in the care of patients with rare diseases or experimental treatments. Projects must meet the ethical criteria issued by the Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences (ASSM). The interests of patients will therefore guide the projects supported by the Foundation in a priority manner. The Foundation may, through its Board, extend its purpose to other areas of medical research not mentioned above, subject to the approval of the Supervisory Authority. The Foundation provides financial resources to carry out these activities for Valais patients, alone or in collaboration with other sources of support. The Foundation may, through its Board, provide material assistance to patients affected by the aforementioned conditions. Material assistance to patients can only be provided if the Foundation's resources permit it and provided that the research projects have obtained sufficient funding.
