Fondation Porteous

To create and sustain a place accessible to all, dedicated to cultural and social practices, expressions, and experiments on the Porteous site and its surroundings, strongly connected to its environment, and a vector of inclusion. To this end, the Foundation aims, in particular, to: Foster the creation, inside and around the Porteous building, of spaces for experimentation, creation, exchange, and cultural, artistic, and artisanal diffusion. Encourage and support artistic creation in all its forms, and foster the emergence of cultural projects. Encourage and support social activities and projects aimed at diversity, mixity, inclusivity, accessibility, solidarity, integration, and reintegration. Renovate, sanitize, bring up to standard and into compliance, maintain in good condition, maintain, and redevelop under its own responsibility the Porteous site and building and its surroundings in connection with the various institutional actors and actresses, favoring, where possible, multi-use spaces, self-construction, and the reuse of materials. Enhance the exceptional architectural quality of the building listed in the inventory of buildings worthy of protection. Promote the integration of the site into local life and the reappropriation of the site by and for users and users through open, accessible, and welcoming spaces. Ensure the active participation of the users and users of the Porteous building and its site in decisions, in respect of its mission and objectives. Ensure the protection of the landscape and natural environment of the place, and their enhancement through the social and cultural initiatives of the project. Ensure the establishment of governance based on the principle of sustainability, with consideration of the social, cultural, economic, and environmental impact of the project. Ensure the establishment of a circular, solidarity-based, and equitable economic model in the Foundation's activities. To achieve these objectives, the Foundation may, in particular, make investments, carry out training actions, organize cultural events, resort to public and private funding, carry out any commercial, financial, movable, and immovable property operations necessary or useful for the achievement of its purpose, and entrust a mandate to a third-party entity (association, cooperative) to carry out certain tasks such as the operation of the building and the implementation of the cultural project. The Foundation does not pursue any profit-making purpose. It carries out a public utility activity. The founding members reserve the right to modify the purpose or organization of the Foundation pursuant to Article 86a CC. However, the purpose must remain of the same nature as the existing one. This modification may take place when at least ten (10) years have elapsed since the constitution of the Foundation or the last modification made, upon the unanimous request of the founding members. This right expires at the latest 20 years after the constitution of the Foundation. This right is non-transferable and does not pass to the successors of the founding members. The Foundation may collaborate with any private or public entity within the framework of the pursuit of its purpose.
