The purpose of the foundation is to carry out, promote and support measures, activities and projects that serve to promote health. To this end, the foundation can in particular act as a federally recognized provider of social health insurance or participate in organizations that act as federally recognized providers of social health insurance and offer and broker other types of insurance provided for in the Health Insurance Act (KVG) and the Health Insurance Ordinance (KVV), as well as conclude reinsurance contracts. In doing so, the foundation aims to protect the insured against the economic consequences of illness, accident and maternity in accordance with the principle of mutuality. If the foundation itself acts as a federally recognized provider of social health insurance, it can offer and broker supplementary insurance to social health insurance and other types of insurance provided for in the Health Insurance Act (KVG) and the Health Insurance Ordinance (KVV), as well as conclude reinsurance contracts, within the framework of federal law. Furthermore, the foundation can join industry associations and other health care organizations. The foundation can participate in or establish institutions and organizations in the health care sector or other insurance companies, and in general, carry out all activities that directly or indirectly serve to achieve its purpose.
