The cooperative aims, through mutual self-help, to provide its members as well as the population of Gurtnellen and its surroundings with food and other daily necessities. The goal is to secure the quality of life, increase the attractiveness of the Gurtnellen mountain region, and thus actively counter emigration. Members have the opportunity to shop at special conditions according to the provisions of the purchasing regulations. Furthermore, the cooperative can conduct all transactions that are suitable for promoting or facilitating the development of the company and the achievement of the cooperative's purpose, including the purchase and sale of real estate and shares in other cooperatives. The activity of the cooperative is non-profit and not profit-oriented.
