The GLB aims to support its members and customers in planning, creating, setting up, improving and maintaining their buildings and facilities. To achieve this purpose, the GLB is authorized to: establish and operate a comprehensive range of services related to construction, i.e. from consulting and planning to all types of construction work, including construction management (GU/TU), energy consulting and planning, ecological heat and power generation, financing, environmental work, and interior design; manufacture and distribute windows, doors, stairs, furniture and other products in its own manufacturing facilities; engage in trade; accept interest-bearing and non-interest-bearing loans and deposits from members and grant such loans to members on favorable terms; establish branches and subsidiaries and participate in other companies and organizations; acquire, encumber, hold, develop and sell properties; perform services for third parties (non-members); fulfill other tasks that are in the interest of the GLB. Furthermore, the GLB aims to support the provision of self-services; promote the vocational training and further education of members and employees in the construction industry; provide support contributions to members and employees in unforeseen cases of need.
