The foundation aims to award the Gomsinnova Prize annually to the person, group of persons or company that, by overcoming existing obstacles, independently and without regard to subsidies or other market-distorting public support, has shown the courage to create innovative and environmentally friendly projects that bring about a synergy between nature, environmental protection, agriculture and tourism; to support projects that bring about a synergy between nature conservation, agriculture and tourism, as far as the means permit; to support projects that promote cross-language communication and cooperation within the canton of Valais, as far as the means permit; innovative and courageous individuals, groups of individuals or companies can be awarded the Gomsinnova Prize if the foundation's board of directors wishes to honor corresponding recipients. There is no obligation to hold the award ceremony annually. The provision of services, in any form, to the founders is excluded.
