The IIHF has the task of promoting ice hockey worldwide and leading the ice hockey movement recognized by the International Olympic Committee. The tasks of the IIHF include, among others: a) Leading, developing and promoting men's and women's ice hockey in all forms and age groups, including the training of coaches and officials, worldwide; b) Controlling international ice hockey; c) Adopting, formulating, issuing, interpreting, implementing and amending statutes, regulations/codes and guidelines necessary for the leadership, development and promotion of ice hockey, in particular but not exclusively with regard to eligibility to participate in IIHF competitions, the orderly international transfer of players and the establishment of international playing rules; d) Formulating or adopting and implementing appropriate policies and programs regarding discrimination, sexual harassment, equal opportunities, equal rights, drugs and doping, integrity, health, safety, ethical business conduct and ecological sustainability as well as other issues that may arise from time to time and are in the best interest of ice hockey; e) Legislation for IIHF activities and their management in accordance with the principles of good governance; f) Establishing and maintaining the IIHF judicial system, which provides for procedures for challenging decisions and resolving disputes; g) Awarding and organizing all IIHF events and competitions and, if necessary, approving international ice hockey games if it is in the interest of promoting the mission and role of the IIHF; h) Mediating sponsorship, media coverage, licensing rights, advertising and merchandising related to IIHF competitions; and i) Cooperating with, joining and/or supporting associations, organizations, foundations, companies or individuals whose activities or goals are similar to those of the IIHF or who promote ice hockey worldwide or in certain parts of the world.
