The objectives of the IWUF are as follows: To accept and respect the general and fundamental principles of the Olympic Charter and to defend the Olympic spirit. To promote and encourage the development and practice of wushu in all its forms worldwide. To formulate and compile the technical rules and regulations governing all wushu competitions. To organize and approve international wushu competitions and activities, to standardize the competitions and activities of the IWUF member federations, and to formulate standards for the approval and certification of international wushu judges and coaches. To promote and encourage the development of international wushu exchanges. To promote cooperation, friendly relations, and mutual understanding among its members. To actively promote and popularize wushu and improve health worldwide through its practice. To formulate standards for the various clothing and equipment used in wushu. To respect the principles of democracy, equality, and harmony within the sport of wushu. To oppose any form of racial, political, religious, cultural, ideological, and sexual discrimination, and to oppose any discrimination based on internal factions within the sport of wushu. To encourage a culture of ethics and integrity throughout the wushu family.
