The foundation aims to promote technology transfer between the Bern University of Applied Sciences and industry in the fields of the TI department (Technology and Informatics). This is achieved primarily through the promotion of applied research and development projects. The promotion is provided through financial support (grants/loans/equity participations). Projects that the TI department implements jointly with the AHB department (Architecture, Wood, Construction) of the Bern University of Applied Sciences can also be supported. Furthermore, the foundation aims to support students of the TI department, and in relevant projects of the AHB department, in such a way that they can take on tasks within the framework of the supported projects. Students are to be financially compensated for their participation in the projects. In addition, the foundation can provide financial support to students with excellent academic records through grants. At least 25% of the financial support over a period of 10 years (starting January 1, 2023) is to be used for students. Financial support, except for loans/equity participations, is to be financed not from the foundation's capital but from the long-term returns (capital gains and income) of the foundation's assets. This requirement must be met over a ten-year period, i.e., after the end of the ten-year cycle, the foundation's assets should still correspond to the initial endowment. This provision can only be changed by the foundation council with a 2/3 majority in accordance with Article 9 of the statutes. The foundation can acquire, sell, rent, or encumber real estate. The foundation can cooperate with organizations that pursue similar goals. The foundation has a non-profit character and does not pursue any commercial purpose. If a natural or legal person supported by the foundation's assets makes inventions or contributes to their creation or if other intellectual property rights (industrial designs or models, trademark rights, know-how rights, etc.) arise in the context of the supported activities, the foundation ensures that it is appropriately involved in the economic success of the exploitation of the intellectual property rights (returns from support contributions to realize the foundation's purpose).
