The foundation aims to promote a deeper understanding and appreciation of the French-speaking Swiss and French cultures. This applies to students who have passed their maturity exams at the Kirschgarten Gymnasium in Basel, preferably with Latin as an examination subject or with Latin as an elective subject for at least one year, as well as to students in colonies organized by the Kirschgarten Gymnasium in the French cultural area. On the one hand, students should be given the opportunity to spend a longer period of study in French-speaking Switzerland or France, and on the other hand, the Kirschgarten Gymnasium should be enabled to support the colonies it organizes for students in the French cultural area. Students also include young people who, after passing their maturity exams, decide to pursue a university degree but have not yet started it.
