Promotion and vocational training and further education of designers and craftsmen and women, as well as apprentices and trainees (learners) in the following professions: woodcarvers, interior designers, interior decorators, intarsia carpenters, cabinetmakers, basket makers, upholsterers, hand weavers and hand printers of interior decoration and furniture fabrics, and any new professions that serve the same purpose. This purpose is achieved by awarding scholarships to talented young applicants with residence and/or citizenship in the cantons of St. Gallen, both Appenzell, Thurgau, Glarus and Graubünden. To the extent that the available funds are not needed for scholarships, they can also be used in other ways in the sense of paragraph 1. New professions that serve the same purpose are considered to be: industrial upholsterers, interior decorators, basket and wickerwork designers, polydesigners (formerly decoration designers; in particular, window decoration), carpenters (furniture/interior design), technical model makers, textile designers (hand weaving), and draftsmen (interior architecture). To the extent that the available funds cannot be used for the above-mentioned professions, apprentices and trainees from the following professional fields can also be promoted: architectural model makers, boat builders (wood), violin makers, wood construction workers, woodcarvers, woodworkers (turning), woodworkers (white cooperage), coopers, musical instrument makers (specializing in organ building, organ pipe making, piano making, wind instrument making, and wind instrument repair), sawyers (wood industry), carpenters (construction/windows), carpentry practitioners, wheelwrights, and carpenters/joiners.
