The foundation's purpose is to take over the entire monastery of Frauenthal, to preserve it in the long term and to make it available for use by institutions of the Roman Catholic cult. It provides facilities to these institutions in accordance with a written agreement and can take care of persons belonging to these institutions. The current property is listed in the property list in Annex 1 of the statutes. In particular, it provides free of charge for the operation and maintenance of the facilities as well as for the well-being of the Cistercian abbey of Frauenthal and all the sisters of this convent. Temporary other uses are possible as an exception. Such decisions are to be submitted to the Bishop of Basel for comment and to the Father Abbot of the Cistercian abbey of Frauenthal for approval. The foundation can acquire, manage and dispose of assets of all kinds for this purpose. However, with regard to real estate and rights in real estate, the following applies: it can acquire, maintain, develop and manage such properties and, in exceptional cases, also dispose of them; however, the monastery complex (part of the property No. 1107 according to the plan in Annex 2 of the statutes) may not be disposed of. The foundation can furthermore take all measures necessary to achieve the foundation's purpose. In all actions, the provisions of the Codex Iuris Canonici and the constitutions of the Cistercian congregation of Mehrerau as well as the agreements with the Cistercian abbey of Frauenthal must be observed.
