The foundation is committed to a liberal, future-oriented, open-minded, internationally networked, competitive Switzerland based on democracy, the rule of law, and international law; serves as an independent platform for public, constructive debate on important topics, develops positions and courses of action, makes research contributions, and provides innovative impulses in partnership with society, business, science, and politics; has an open-minded approach and explicitly does not aim to spread a preconceived opinion in the public. The purpose of the foundation is rather to serve the public in such a way that they have the opportunity to form an opinion on the topics addressed. Opinion formation is a consequence of the purpose, which is in the public interest. To fulfill this purpose, the foundation is designed as an umbrella foundation and can contribute assets and funds to separate funds, whose use serves the foundation's purpose and which are managed professionally, as well as manage, coordinate, administer, and disburse the assets of other similar foundations at their request in a purposeful manner through separate funds. The foundation does not have a commercial purpose and does not seek profit. It is exclusively engaged in non-profit activities.
