The CO2 incorporated in construction accounts for around 15 to 20% of global CO2 emissions. For example, cement is the most widely used material on earth, but it emits 7 to 8% of human-caused CO2 emissions. However, there are effective measures to mitigate CO2 emissions. The purpose of the association is to take actions to support the reduction of CO2 in construction, such as the development and dissemination of LC3 cement, a new type of cement using clay and emitting up to 40% less CO2 than traditional cement. This includes, but is not limited to: Organizing and participating in events to inform and promote the use of low-CO2 construction materials; Taking necessary actions to inform regulatory bodies to adopt regulations or building codes that allow for wider use of low-CO2 materials and construction methods; Providing advisory services to private and public actors to enable them to implement low-CO2 construction materials; Sharing knowledge and information on low-CO2 construction materials, either directly or by subcontracting competent partner institutions; Advising and assisting public and private sectors in defining a roadmap for near-zero CO2 emissions for cement-based construction materials and construction in general; Establishing a network of stakeholders who promote low-CO2 construction materials and construction; Collecting funds and distributing them to renowned entities willing to conduct research projects, knowledge sharing, demonstration project implementation, and dissemination actions aimed at reducing CO2 emissions in cement-based construction; Establishing partnerships with other non-profit organizations committed to promoting low-CO2 solutions in the construction sector.
