The Matterhorn Gotthard Infrastruktur AG is a company of the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn Group, which was formed by the merger of the BVZ Zermatt-Bahn AG and the Furka Oberalp Bahn AG. The group forms an integrated railway company. The tasks of the group as a whole are performed by the companies belonging to it in their respective areas. The Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn Group includes, in addition to the Matterhorn Gotthard Infrastruktur AG, the following companies: the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn AG, which is responsible for ensuring the uniform management of the group; and the Matterhorn Gotthard Verkehrs AG, which is responsible for managing passenger traffic, car transport, and freight transport, including the maintenance, renewal, and procurement of rolling stock. The Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn Group aims to expand its market leadership in the field of public regional transport in the Upper Valais and to play a significant role in shaping the Urserental and Surselva regions. It wants to be the experience railway in the Alps. As a profitable public-tourist transport company, it has the necessary resources to implement its strategic direction. The focus of this strategy is on optimizing regional transport services and expanding tourist traffic. The Matterhorn Gotthard Infrastruktur AG is the owner of the railway infrastructure of the former Furka Oberalp Bahn, including tracks, overhead lines, safety installations, and stations. It acquired the corresponding infrastructure facilities of the former BVZ Zermatt-Bahn. As a result, it is the owner of the infrastructure facilities of the railway on the Zermatt-Disentis and Andermatt-Göschenen lines and holds the railway infrastructure concession on these lines. It is responsible for ensuring the maintenance, renewal, new construction, and operational readiness of the infrastructure facilities of the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn Group. The company subordinates its area of responsibility to the strategic and operational interests of the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn Group and thus to the uniform management of the integrated railway company by the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn AG. The personnel composition of the company's board of directors takes into account this uniform management structure. The company works closely with all companies and business units of the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn Group in this sense. The company can perform other activities that are related to the purpose of the company or the interests of the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn Group. It can execute orders for third parties in the field of infrastructure. It can acquire real estate and other essential rights.
