The institution is responsible for supplying the area of the political municipality of Zollikon with electricity, gas and water. It may also operate additional, related businesses and data networks. It is obligated to ensure the basic supply of electricity and water. It distributes electricity beyond the basic supply, provides gas and, at its discretion, data services and other infrastructure services, and operates these activities in accordance with economic and competitive principles. Comprehensive services under the Radio and Television Act and the Telecommunications Act are only provided if the institution is commissioned to do so by the municipality. The institution promotes sustainable energy production and the sustainable and economical use of energy and water, in accordance with economic principles. It may also be active outside the political municipality of Zollikon. It complies with the relevant laws and regulations and fulfills the tasks assigned to the municipality by the federal and cantonal authorities within its area of activity. The institution is obligated to ensure the connection and network connection within the building zones in exchange for the payment of connection fees, to maintain existing used network connections outside the building zones, and to create new network connections outside the building zones in exchange for the payment of connection fees, and to supply end-consumers with basic supply in accordance with the Electricity Supply Act with the desired amount of electricity of the required quality and at reasonable tariffs.
