The purpose of the association is to promote alternative forms of housing that offer the potential of experiences of solidarity communities, where each individual feels co-responsible for the other, while also allowing for independence. This includes people from different professional and social backgrounds living together in a property or apartment and shaping their daily lives together. The association also enables access to attractive housing through joint financing, regardless of individual financial means. The association's members create space for encounters and social exchange in the neighborhood by organizing local cultural events. Through the association's life, the members shape the social processes and rules of coexistence together. The association's vision, sagenhaft Wohnen, is that its members consider the coexistence of people in different life situations and cultural backgrounds, as well as age-mixed housing, to be forward-looking. Community living is a place of primary social experiences for children, a place of belonging for people regardless of their social background or age, and also a place of critical exchange, confrontation, and conflict resolution. The association does not pursue commercial purposes and does not strive for profit. The association is politically and denominationally neutral.
