To promote and fund research, study, and development of possible treatments and/or remedies for Usher syndrome type 1B; to promote and fund research, study, and development of possible treatments and/or remedies for Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP), particularly for the mutations that cause RP in Usher syndrome 1B; to promote and fund research, study, and development of possible treatments and/or remedies for vestibular dysfunction caused by the mutations that define Usher syndrome 1B; to promote and fund research, study, and development of possible treatments and/or remedies to reverse hearing loss due to Usher syndrome type 1B or to complement the hearing that cochlear implants provide to implanted individuals; to promote knowledge and awareness of Usher syndrome and genetic diseases. The association is non-profit.
