The SME Association is the organ of the churches of the Fédération Romande d'Eglises Evangéliques (hereinafter FREE) for cooperation in development in Southern and/or disadvantaged countries. Its development, mutual aid and training activities result from the practical application of the Christian faith based on the Bible. Its activities are implemented in a spirit of sustainability by promoting collaboration with partners and churches in the South. It does not pursue any economic or political purpose. As a cooperation and development body, the churches of the FREE have entrusted it with the following mandates: a) Promote, organize and coordinate development, mutual aid and human and spiritual training activities in Southern and/or disadvantaged countries. b) Promote and support the sending of people to Southern countries as well as intercultural exchanges. Furthermore, SME aims to promote pioneering projects and accomplish any other temporary or permanent development, mutual aid or training task consistent with its purposes.
