The association is intended to be recognized by the competent body of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) as a region comprising all branches and sections of STEP in Switzerland and Liechtenstein. The association is established with the purpose of assisting its members (the local "branches" and "chapters" of STEP in Switzerland and Liechtenstein) in helping families with estate planning across generations: by coordinating and supporting its members; promoting high professional standards; training professionals; connecting advisors and families globally; informing public policy; and acting in the public interest. To achieve the aforementioned objectives, the association will, among other things, regularly organize conferences at which recognized experts enable STEP members to keep their knowledge up to date in their relevant professional fields. In principle, these conferences will be accessible to STEP members and interested third parties. The association will neither replace the local "branches" and "chapters" of STEP in Switzerland and Liechtenstein, nor encroach upon their autonomy, competences or activities.
