The Foundation does not pursue any commercial or self-help purposes. The intention of the Founder, The Nature Conservancy, a non-profit organization established and existing under the laws of the District of Columbia, USA (hereinafter the Founder), is to promote ecological restoration and the preservation of plants, animals, and natural habitats that embody the diversity of life on Earth, as well as marine resources, by protecting the lands and seas worldwide that they need to survive, in particular through: promoting nature conservation and landscape management, protection of wetlands and habitat conservation; combating the negative impacts of climate change and loss of biodiversity, and ensuring food and water security; promoting wildlife conservation; promoting education; and supporting purposeful programs and projects both domestically and abroad. The Foundation, according to its purpose, is primarily active in Europe, Africa, Latin America, and Asia. The Foundation may also perform fundraising functions for affiliated organizations abroad.
