The Yankuam Association aims to promote, preserve and sustainably develop the Shuar people, as well as promote cultural exchange in Switzerland. The Shuar are an indigenous people from the Amazon region in Ecuador and Peru. The association supports social, ecological and economic projects that contribute to strengthening the community and protecting their cultural heritage. The association's main concerns include: (i) financing and promoting sustainable projects in the areas of education, environmental protection and sustainable entrepreneurship. (ii) preserving and passing on the Shuar cultural heritage, particularly their cosmvision, language, traditional knowledge and handicrafts. (iii) international networking and raising awareness for indigenous rights and cultural diversity. The association is non-profit, politically independent, denominationally neutral and non-profit-oriented. All funds are used exclusively to achieve the association's purposes.
