The most important points at a glance

Intuition Painting® is a structured, guided creative process with an open outcome. It can help make access to one’s own perception, intuition and inner clarity more tangible. It is not about painting technique or creating a pretty picture, but about following one’s own impulse and perceiving what arises in the process.

What we keep noticing at iCompas is that people come to the Intuition Painting® workshop for very different reasons: some want more clarity or self-confidence, others want to reduce stress, work through grief, or regain access to their own needs and feelings. What connects them is less a specific problem than the willingness to engage in an open creative process.

Why Intuition Painting® does not address the problem directly

Many people are strongly oriented outward, meet expectations, and only later notice that their inner voice has become quieter. This often shows up as overthinking, insecurity, or feeling stuck. Intuition Painting® does not aim to analyze this pattern, but to make accessible again, through the creative process, what wants to be perceived, felt and expressed.

Yes, exactly then. With Intuition Painting® it is not about being able to paint, mastering a technique, or producing a beautiful image. It is about following one’s own impulse and perceiving what arises in the process.

Who is Intuition Painting suitable for, and for whom not?

Fits well if ...Not so suitable if ...
you are curious about yourself and want to engage in an open creative processyou mainly want to learn painting techniques or achieve an aesthetically pleasing image
you perform a lot in daily life, are strong on the outside, or want more connection to yourselfyou don’t want to feel anything or engage with yourself
you want to start with or without artistic backgroundIf you feel compelled and not freely chosen
Suitability and clear boundaries of the offering

Contrary to the assumption that such things only work for creative people, beginners are often open to it. What matters is not talent, but willingness. Those who engage in the process can bring very different topics, from stress and grief to decision questions or the wish for more self-confidence.

How does an Intuition-Painting workshop work?

  1. At the beginning, frameworks and core principles are explained so it is clear how the process is guided.
  2. Then the painting process starts without a predetermined goal, with space for impulses, perception and movement.
  3. There are breaks between phases to absorb what has been experienced so it can settle.
  4. During painting, iCompas accompanies with questions and impulses, without interpreting pictures or prescribing meanings.
  5. At the end the focus is on integration, not on a finished artwork.

In practice, it often becomes evident that a painting develops its own dynamic over time. Topics do not appear as concepts but step by step through doing. This is exactly what differentiates Intuition Painting® from a classical painting course: the process is guided, but the result is not predetermined.

What can the creative process achieve?

The most common misconception is that a problem must be solved first for such a process to make sense. In iCompas’ experience, it is often the other way around: people arrive with restlessness, self-doubt or inner exhaustion, and only in the process does what they truly need become clear. That can be clarity, lightness, new strength, or a clearer access to their own feelings and needs. Many people are deeply moved by the fact that, during the course, very personal insights and empowering inner messages can arise – sometimes about topics they hadn’t even expected. Messages might feel like, for example, “I am good as I am,” “I may trust myself,” or “I am not alone.” What message arises cannot be predicted – every process unfolds differently.

Another important point: the messages do not arise from external interpretation, but are perceived by the participants themselves. This keeps the process personal and not arbitrary. This is precisely what makes it so approachable for many, because it does not claim to know from outside what is right.

An example from iCompas’ practice

In a case study of four consecutive sessions on the same image, the path did not reveal itself immediately. At first, the image was open and it was not clear where it would lead. With each session, themes such as perseverance, having to be strong, grief, resistance, protection, acceptance and connection with a younger part became visible. In the end, there was not a “perfect” image, but a strong sense of self-acceptance, self-forgiveness and loving connection with oneself.

How do iCompas formats differ?

FormatTypical frameworkSuitable for
Intuition Painting® Workshop2 days, together in a groupPeople seeking a structured entry
1:1 coaching with creative methodsIndividual, depending on needs and pacePeople who want very personal guidance
Creative playroomEvening format from 49 CHFA low-threshold access to free creative work
classification of the main formats

For some, a workshop is the right framework because the group carries the process and it has a clear start and end. For others, individual accompaniment is better when the topic needs more space. The Creative Playroom, on the other hand, offers an open, low-threshold framework to follow one’s own creativity – without a defined goal and without performance pressure.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need prior painting experience for Intuition Painting®?
No. The offering is expressly for people without artistic experience. What matters is not the technique, but the willingness to engage in the process and perceive what arises in the work.
What happens if strong emotions surface during the process?
They are not wiped away, but lovingly guided. Emotions may be perceived, expressed and moved through the creative process, without an external meaning being imposed. This is often the part that clients find relieving afterward.
Is Intuition Painting® a therapy?
No, and it should not replace necessary psychotherapeutic or medical treatment. It can be used as a complement for mental health conditions, but not as a substitute for appropriate therapeutic or medical care.
How binding is the process?
Relatively binding, because the individual sessions build on each other. If you want to use the process effectively, you should set aside the time as scheduled and try to participate from start to finish. In particular, multi-part formats often show effects only over time.

If you understand Intuition Painting® as a genuine process and not a classical painting course, the expectation also becomes clear: it is about perception, expression and inner movement. For people who want to come back more to themselves, this can be the relevant next step.

At iCompas in Rheinfelden, the framework is created deliberately without performance pressure and without judgment. If you want to check whether this suits you, the best entry is a conversation or a suitable format with clear guidance.
