The purpose of the AEA is to: a) Serve the Members by promoting, developing and governing Athletics in all its forms in Europe (including track and field, walking, throwing and jumping, in competition and outside competition); b) Encourage the practice of Athletics at all levels, by people of all ages, throughout Europe, in the context of competitions, events, programs and activities; c) Organize, manage, control and supervise international competitions in Europe and ratify European Athletics records; d) Protect the integrity of Athletics and the AEA by developing and implementing standards of conduct and ethics, as well as by implementing good governance practices within the AEA and promoting good governance within the Members; e) Protect clean athletes by applying and enforcing the World Anti-Doping Code, in particular by implementing regulations, programs and systems; f) Encourage and support the development, organization and promotion of Athletics in Europe through its Members; g) Advance Athletics through continuous research and development, in particular by disseminating technical, medical, logistical and other information related to Athletics; h) Preserve the right of everyone to participate in Athletics in a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play, and without any discrimination; i) Cooperate with commercial entities and other organizations to protect and enhance the intellectual property of the AEA, in particular in the context of commercial agreements, media, marketing and sponsorship, in the interest of Athletics and the AEA; j) Promote and implement programs and practices aimed at sustaining Athletics, including the environment in which Athletics is practiced; k) Promote health and well-being through Athletics; l) Promote gender equality at all levels of Athletics, in particular within all AEA bodies, AEA officials, AEA staff and among Members; m) Encourage friendly relations and cooperation with and between Members and defend the legal rights and interests of Members within the framework of World Athletics; n) Cooperate with World Athletics and Continental Associations, other sports organizations, public and private organizations, as well as authorities to promote the interests of sport in general, and Athletics in particular, throughout Europe. In order to fulfill the objectives defined in this Constitution, the AEA may hold shares in companies or other legal entities.
