The ISMF is responsible and committed to: encouraging, promoting, developing, and supervising ski mountaineering worldwide, supporting all types of athletes, from amateurs to professionals, in competitive and recreational ski mountaineering, including virtual, electronic, and any other similar format; supporting national bodies in countries where infrastructure is insufficient and sharing the know-how necessary to develop ski mountaineering nationally across all continents, where possible; promoting ski mountaineering as a healthy, educational, and recreational activity for youth; establishing and maintaining the necessary rules and regulations for organizing and participating in ISMF competitions and events; deciding which international ski mountaineering competitions are officially recognized and establishing annual calendars of international events; setting up training courses for all ISMF officials to ensure the highest possible standards for all ISMF officials; encouraging the creation of continental organizations to promote ski mountaineering competitions, where appropriate; promoting athletes and protecting their rights through the Athletes' Commission; promoting the safety of ski mountaineering and protecting athletes from all forms of harassment and abuse; issuing licenses and contracts to members and other organizations wishing to obtain authorization to organize official international competitions and related activities, promoting and controlling good sports practices to protect the integrity of ski mountaineering; respecting and defending gender equality, as well as promoting inclusion and diversity at all levels in its competitions and management, promoting fair play in sport and respecting the Olympic Movement Code on the prevention of competition manipulation; promoting equal rewards, prizes, and bonuses; protecting athletes' rights and health, ensuring fair and clean sports, and fighting doping and all other processes and procedures likely to harm sporting equality, in accordance with the World Anti-Doping Code, current IOC documents, and ISMF anti-doping rules; complying with the Olympic Charter and the Code of Ethics of the International Olympic Committee in activities leading to the Winter Olympic Games; considering the protection of the environment when organizing and promoting ski mountaineering activities; ensuring/providing the promotion of ski mountaineering in the media as well as international competitions listed on the ISMF calendar; actively seeking and providing revenues for the proper functioning of this sport; carrying out any other activity aimed at promoting ski mountaineering.
