The foundation serves philanthropic purposes in accordance with the founder's basic ideas. It aims to proactively promote the improvement of human living conditions, particularly in the field of healthcare, including medical research. The foundation can also promote the dissemination of the foundation's idea and the foundation system, especially through consulting and coordinating measures. It can also assume duties and responsibilities in other non-profit foundations. In exceptional cases of social need or particular worthiness of support, the board of trustees is authorized to provide voluntary services from the foundation's funds. The focus of the foundation's activities should be in Austria and Switzerland. The foundation should always fulfill its tasks in the spirit of cooperation and mutual understanding between Switzerland and Austria.
