The purpose of the foundation is to research and promote sustainable agriculture, with a particular focus on agriculture in developing countries and agriculture under difficult climatic conditions. To achieve its non-profit purpose, the foundation may, in particular: support, finance or promote programs dedicated to research in the field of sustainable agriculture. A focus should be placed on the future of agriculture in particularly difficult conditions (such as in tropical or subtropical regions). In doing so, the foundation can support programs from universities as well as from private sector actors or contribute to the establishment of centers of excellence for these purposes; support projects that reduce the use of important agricultural resources such as water or energy, thereby contributing to better and more sustainable food production (green food chain); award prizes that promote particularly promising projects in the field of sustainable agriculture; support programs that finance the transition to sustainable agriculture or create corresponding economic incentives. To this end, the foundation can also provide direct services to needy farmers in developing countries or promote such projects by other organizations. The foundation board can set priorities for the pursuit of its purpose and decide freely on the allocation of foundation funds and distributions. There is no legal entitlement to foundation services, nor can a corresponding legal entitlement be derived from the receipt of foundation services. The foundation can also cooperate with other organizations to fulfill its tasks and promote them. The foundation can fulfill its purpose both in Switzerland and abroad and promote projects. To fulfill its purpose, it can establish companies in Switzerland and abroad. The foundation has no commercial purpose and does not strive for profit.
