The foundation's purpose is to provide general support to individuals living in a Spanish-speaking country (where Spanish includes the languages spoken in Spain and Catalonia, such as Catalan, and Spain includes Catalonia) or who have Spanish as their mother tongue, or to projects in Spanish-speaking countries that establish a connection with Switzerland, for example, to finance studies or relations between the countries concerned, to finance measures in the cultural field, to support such individuals in achieving economic independence through the promotion of projects, start-ups or similar; to finance projects in the field of education or to finance the general livelihood of individuals living in a Spanish-speaking country or who have Spanish as their mother tongue, to finance reintegration measures, to enable training or retraining by covering costs not covered by the relevant state; to finance study leave for individuals in training in the affected Spanish-speaking countries or who have Spanish as their mother tongue, to promote general understanding between the countries concerned and Switzerland, for example, by enabling participation in an international scout camp in Switzerland, financing school projects in such countries or similar; to finance projects in Spanish-speaking countries for the creation, preservation or development of infrastructure in the historical or cultural field. When evaluating applications, the foundation board takes into account the applicant's overall financial situation, including any state benefits, social insurance or social assistance benefits. The foundation's grants are awarded voluntarily at the discretion of the foundation board. There is no legal entitlement of individual beneficiaries to the foundation's assets or income. The foundation board has all the competencies to achieve the foundation's purpose.
