The foundation's purpose is to make the paintings it owns available to the St. Gallen Museums Foundation, for the benefit of the Art Museum, for public viewing on an unlimited basis, thereby continuing to promote our people's interest in the Art Museum through this enrichment. The foundation's board of directors may sell some of the paintings listed in the following provisions in order to acquire other paintings by Swiss artists of the 19th and 20th centuries in their place and make them permanently available to the Art Museum for exhibition. In this way, the foundation's board of directors ensures that the foundation's paintings are always accessible to the public for viewing. The loan period lasts as long as the St. Gallen Museums Foundation or its legal successor exists and the paintings can be viewed by the public in the Art Museum (see Art. 11).
