The foundation aims to preserve the former seat of the Lords of Eptingen as a historically very significant building and cultural landmark of the municipality of Eptingen, specifically through: a. the acquisition and legal securing of the castle grounds and access routes; b. the development of access routes and the making accessible of the castle complex; c. the maintenance and restoration of the remaining ruins and facilities; d. the rebuilding of individual parts of the former castle complex; e. the collection and promotion of historical research and publications on the castles and the Lords of Eptingen; f. the support of excavations and research of all kinds that serve to increase knowledge about the castle and its surroundings; g. the illumination of the castle to secure the castle complex from damage and to make it more visible; h. the supervision of the castle complex as a recreational area for Eptingen; i. the coordination of activities with organizations with similar goals. Furthermore, the foundation is committed to promoting the general interest in Witwald Castle.
