The purpose of the foundation is non-profit and includes contributions to the promotion of literature at the local level. This includes the operation, management, and financing of the Penarosa writing workshop, as well as the care, maintenance, and continuation of the publicly accessible library of the founder Georg Brunold as an important working tool of the Penarosa writing workshop. The Penarosa writing workshop offers an author, that is, a book author or a book authoress, the opportunity for an unpaid stay of three to five months in Arosa each year. The Writers in Residence are to provide information about their activities and projects within the framework of public appearances and thus form part of the program of Arosa Kultur. The Penarosa writing workshop also offers accommodation and workspace for advanced students, graduates, and researchers at universities (the Philosophical Faculty I or the Theological Faculty at universities in Switzerland or the departments of humanities and social sciences at universities in Germany, Austria) to work on master's theses, dissertations, or other research projects.
