The essentials at a glance
Even if AI speeds up texts, images and ideas, the distinctiveness of an SME remains a human task. What matters are the company’s strengths, a clear brand direction and an appearance that brings language, design and message together. Bucher Identity & Design develops personal, practical solutions in Central Switzerland from the first conversation to implementation.
I find the possibilities of AI exciting, but it does not answer a central question: What really makes a company? This is exactly where work on a brand that does not feel generic begins. At Bucher Identity & Design we therefore first look at the people, the experience and the way a business works for its customers.
Where does the uniqueness of an SME lie?
Since 1996 Pascal Bucher has been guiding companies with Bucher Identity & Design in their appearance. The entry point is not design, but questions: What distinguishes this business, why do customers choose it, and what in everyday life has become so self-evident that it is hardly visible?
Often the strongest distinguishing features lie in consulting, in the expertise of the employees or in sticking with difficult tasks. From these qualities credible messages arise because they come from the company’s reality and not from a replaceable template.
What is taken for granted in everyday life can be the crucial difference for your customers.
Why a personal conversation helps branding
A briefing helps, but in direct conversation you often learn more. Then it becomes visible why someone founded a company, what the team is proud of and which concerns customers repeatedly bring. A visit on site also shows a lot about the business, its people and its way of working.
This proximity is central for us at Bucher Identity & Design. With our agency in Root we are at home in Central Switzerland and directly reachable. This allows us to discuss ideas at the table, clarify questions and develop recommendations that truly fit the company.
How AI can be used meaningfully
AI can provide suggestions, develop variants and speed up tasks. For the result to fit a SME, clear guidelines and good judgment are needed. The crucial question is which idea hits the core, which formulation sounds like the company, and which image achieves the desired effect.
Here we see the value of an experienced agency: we work together to determine what a brand stands for and which strengths are relevant for the target groups. This foundation also gives AI use a clear direction, rather than allowing communication to become arbitrary.
A good idea must fit the people behind the company and those it aims to reach.
How a consistent appearance builds trust
A website, a brochure or a single post can be well designed on its own. For a strong brand, however, these elements must fit together so customers recognize the company and know what to expect. A clear thread in language, design and message is needed.
This is exactly what we help you with, from positioning and corporate design to websites and print products, up to signage. We keep the overall appearance in view and coordinate collaboration with specialized partners if needed. For you this means a personal contact, coordinated measures and less coordination effort.
| Component | Impact on the brand | Contribution from Bucher Identity & Design |
|---|---|---|
| Positioning | Shows what the company stands for | Together we sharpen the basis for the communication |
| Corporate Design | Ensures recognizability | We develop the visual appearance to match the brand |
| Websites and print products | Make the message visible | We design the communication tools in harmony with each other |
| Signage | Guides people in space | We integrate wayfinding systems into the overall appearance |
What experience and fresh perspective bring together
As a trained typographer, Pascal Bucher values careful design. At the same time his experience shows that the decisive questions lie behind the design: who do we want to reach, what should stick, and how can the strength of a company be explained clearly?
What we repeatedly notice in practice: the best results occur where consulting, concept and design come together. Then an appearance emerges that the team can stand behind and that feels credible in everyday life.
Practical tip
When working with AI, first sharpen your own brand and then automate content. The clearer the stance, language and visual line are defined, the better the proposals fit the company.

Which services does Bucher Identity & Design cover?
When everyone uses similar tools, it matters more how clearly a company shows its identity. Branding for SMEs remains a strategic task that must be developed from people, experience and daily work. Bucher Identity & Design supports you with an open conversation, an external perspective and an appearance that fits your business.
This creates a brand that not only feels modern but remains recognizable, even as AI speeds up everyday life. Those who clearly articulate their strengths can steer their own communication and differentiate themselves better in the market.

From our practice: Spanish joie de vivre for Lucerne
One example is BOLERO Restaurante in Lucerne. The restaurant is an established destination for Spanish cuisine, but its advertising appearance needed fresh momentum. Our task was to make Spanish joie de vivre and culinary variety visible in a modern and humorous way. The question at the center for me was: how do we translate the character of BOLERO into an idea that is immediately understandable on the street?
We developed a campaign with the claim “We really stuff our mouths.” Three photographic subjects with a model holding a shrimp, octopus or a jalapeño in the mouth were created. The campaign was implemented on three VBL buses in Lucerne. This connected the culinary offering with a cheeky visual language and a regionally appropriate advertising channel.
«The uniqueness of a company is the starting point. Our job is to turn it into an idea that people understand and recognize.»
This project shows what we deliver for our clients: we combine understanding of their business with a clear idea and accompany the implementation together with our specialized partners. AI can support individual steps. What remains decisive is which message fits the brand and how an autonomous appearance emerges.
