The purpose of the foundation is to pursue non-profit goals for the benefit of third parties by promoting global human health and resilience through the support of the development of scientific ideas, methods, technologies, and strategies that help humanity adapt to a changing world. To achieve this purpose, the foundation supports ecological initiatives in climate, weather, and planetary sciences, food, energy, and water security (FEW), human health, resilient natural ecosystems, transportation, technological innovation, and scientific progress that can contribute to advances in these areas. The foundation can particularly support academic and innovative initiatives driven primarily by institutions based in Switzerland, but can also participate in European and global initiatives, provided their impact is also in the interest of Switzerland. In general, the foundation will financially support new research projects established in collaboration with academic institutions. The foundation's goal will always be to financially support such initiatives while the results/solutions will be public goods intended to accelerate the adoption of practical resilience strategies and remain in the hands of academic institutions or organizing institutions. The foundation has a non-profit character and does not pursue any commercial purpose. The foundation's capital and future profits are exclusively and irrevocably dedicated to the pursuit of non-profit goals.
